颱風計劃的失敗
1942年1月，莫斯科的郊外殺出一群傳說中的「西伯利亞人」，他們就是朱可夫「蓄謀已久」的預備隊。德軍的戰線再也支撐不住，全線崩潰，一口氣後撤了200公里。元首一氣之下，先後罷免了布勞希奇，博克，施圖姆等一批將領，並罵他們是「廢柴」。博克從此賦閒在家，一直沒有再被啟用。1945年5月的一天，他的坐車遭遇英國空軍空襲，副官和司機當場身亡，他也因傷重不治去世了，一代名將就這樣隕落了。
柏林戰役－－－－前言
盟軍在1945年3月因為偶然的戰機，渡過了萊茵河，距離柏林只有不到100公里了，而此時蘇軍已到了柏林遠郊70公里處。根據亞爾達密約，柏林雖然被劃入蘇戰區，但這並不意味著柏林只能由蘇軍佔領。柏林緊急召集所有成年和未成年男女，充當炮灰，元首進行了最後的動員，「人民突擊隊」大量的組建。同時德軍中流傳著一句話：「向東死死的頂住俄國人，直到西方來的英國人踢我們的屁股」。事實也是這樣，德軍寧願向西方盟軍投降，也不願意向蘇聯投降，因此柏林極有可能對盟軍枉開一面，讓盟軍和平佔領。為了戰後的格局，蘇軍決定必須搶在盟軍到達前佔領柏林。當時柏林方向上的德軍共有100餘萬人，1000架飛機（此時的防空警戒線早已收縮到國境線以內，而且大部分機場因連續遭襲而無法啟用）和1400輛坦克及裝甲車輛，而蘇軍的力量是他們的4倍以上！
